Student Charter
As a student with ACRES you are entitled to:
- A prompt and courteous response to enquiries
- Accurate advice and information about courses and fees
- Notification if a course is postponed or cancelled
- A safe and supportive environment in which to learn, free from bullying and abuse
- Be treated with respect by staff and other students
- An introduction and overview of your course at the first session
- A programme of teaching and learning which will help you to successfully complete your learning outcomes
- Be taught by appropriately experienced and trained tutors
- Receive regular feedback on your progress, including an individualised learning plan and learning diary
- Give feedback on your experience with ACRES and help us improve our courses and service
- Learning opportunities which are regularly reviewed for quality assurance and continued development
- Impartial information about progression and further learning opportunities
- Have any complaints handled promptly and objectively
- Compliance, by us, with the General Data Protection Regulations and the Education and Skills Funding Agency's Privacy Policy in respect of information held on individuals
- Information on all ACRES' policies on request
We expect students to:
- Arrive and be ready to learn at the published start time of the lesson
- Give a commitment to 85% attendance or above and notify ACRES if unable to attend a session
- Make a positive commitment and contribution to your own learning
- Be fully involved in assessing your own progress on the course
- Bring any concerns you have about your learning and progress to the attention of your tutor
- Have concern for the health and safety standards and guidance appropriate to your course, including asking for advice if you are not sure
- Respect staff and other students and their right to learn
- Not give offence to others by your use of language, actions or behaviour
- Make us aware of any support needs that you have to allow you to participate fully and achieve
- Make us aware of any circumstances that may prevent you from fully participating and/or hinder your achievement
