If maths makes you a bit nervous, this course will help you gain confidence ready to embark on a longer course in September 2024!
Course overview
This is a short summer course where you can brush up your maths skills in a small, friendly class.
You will be introduced to some of the topics that are covered in the longer Functional Skills course and will discover that maths doesn't need to be scary. You will also pick up some good study habits so you feel ready and prepared to progress onwards with your maths knowledge and study

Monday, 6:45pm - 9:00pm from 24th June 2024 until 15th July 2024 for 4 weeks.

What you already need to know
You do not need any previous knowledge.
What you will learn
This course is a very gentle introduction to some of the topics that are covered in the Functional Skills course starting in September.
Topics will include:
- Arithmetic - review and brush up your knowledge on the different methods for adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing
- Times Tables - learn different techniques to help you conquer your times tables
- Fractions - review and brush up your knowledge of everyday fractions and equivalent fractions using useful images to help support your learning
- Decimals - brush up your knowledge on ordering decimals and understanding how we organise numbers
How you will learn it
You will study in a small class of students, in group, pair and individual formations, using a range of physical and online resources. Sessions are relaxed and all tasks will be approached in a relaxed and fun way and aim to ease you back into reviewing your maths skills and studying Maths at functional skills level
Bring to the first session
Please bring a pen, notepad and pencil to your sessions.
Extra study or practice
Homework will be given for you to practice your number skills. Setting some time aside each week will help you to develop good study habits.

We will send you an enrolment pack. The pack includes a short assessment to establish your level. Please return the pack in the free-post envelope provided as soon as possible.
You will then be invited to an online 'meet and greet' with a tutor to discuss the best route for you to achieve your maths goals.
