What you already need to know
For those who have practised yoga recently and who have had at least 2 years of experience.
- A degree of mobility is required. You will be expected to access the floor from standing, to sitting, kneeling, lying down and getting back up to be able to participate in the range of movements and relaxation.
- This course is not suitable for those in the early stages of pregnancy (16 weeks or before) or pregnant and who have no previous yoga experience. We would recommend, in both cases, looking for a specialist prenatal or pregnancy yoga course.
- Students are expected to understand and work within their personal movement range, being able to use adjustment for any limitations they may have.
To be able to participate in this course, all students are required to complete and return a pre-course health questionnaire before the first session.
What you will learn
Focus on flexibility working through and advancing our series of postures (Asana) previously explored, working on the three major movement groups.
- A breathing practise (pranayama)
- Relaxation (Yoga Nidra)
- Meditation (begins when we allow our bodies and minds to relax deeply and fully)
- Recognise areas for personal development within your own body's movement range
- Take your practice with you throughout your day and notice the effect it has on you
How you will learn it
This practical course is reinforced by demonstration and discussion and modified depending on student interest. Movements are broken down and then layered, developing a solid base from which you can progress. You are encouraged to develop an awareness of your body and movement patterns to identify personally beneficial breathing techniques.
