What you already need to know

No previous experience is necessary as the course will assess the learners and start from a point that is suitable for each individual person.

What you will learn

You will be developing your maths skills in three key areas:

- Numbers - up to and including decimals, fractions and percentages
- Measure - working out sizes and amounts
- Data - how to use mathematical information eg graphs, statistics

You will have the opportunity to gain a Functional Skills qualification at Entry 3 or Level 1. Many employers and colleges recognise the Functional Skills qualifications as good preparation for GCSE, further education and employment.
Your tutor will discuss exams with you and advise you of the dates.

How you will learn it

A variety of teaching methods will be used to help develop your knowledge, skills and understanding i.e. practical tasks, group work, e-learning.
Each student will be working towards individual targets so that they can develop the skills they most need to improve. All tasks will be approached in a relaxed and fun way!
