Course overview
Get creative and discover what diverse methods printmaking has to offer. Explore line, texture and colour using a wide range of printmaking techniques from lino printing to natural processes, creating one-off prints.
During the course you will have the opportunity to experiment using different materials, including creating a uniquely printed tote bag.

Wednesday, 6:30pm - 8:30pm from 17th January 2024 until 13th March 2024 for 8 weeks.
No class on 14th February (Half Term)
Cost
The full fee is £129.00.
The concessionary fee is £73.00.
What you already need to know
Suitable for beginners or those with experience. If you have attended this course before or have basic printmaking knowledge, the course will start with a refresher of the core techniques which you will find useful to consolidate your knowledge. You will then be able to develop your projects with new and existing techniques.
What you will learn
The key principles and techniques of Printmaking, developing your knowledge, application and composition as you progress.
The techniques covered:
- Monoprint; ink application and colour theory
- Lino / Japanese vinyl cutting; refine and plan out different types of cutting
- Reduction printing; using multiple colours in a single print
- Composition; using a sketchbook to plot out your work
How you will learn it
- Tutor demonstrations
- Group and individual tuition
- Practical application
- Group discussion, and exploration of source material and the work of other artists.
- Proactive use of your sketchbook to develop your ideas
Bring to the first session
- Drawn or photographic images either found or created by yourself (any topic or subject)
- Basic drawing materials
- An apron (if required)
- Your own supply of latex gloves (if required)
- A4 sketchbook
The course fee includes inks, foam boards, vinyl, and other materials.
Please do not purchase any materials or items until you know that your course will run to avoid unnecessary costs. Course decisions are typically made a week before the course start date.
Faye will recommend card or cartridge paper for your final prints, there may be an opportunity to purchase some materials directly.
Extra study or practice
You may wish to spend time at home practising skills and techniques between classes.
