Course overview
An excellent introduction to the ancient art of straw marquetry with a contemporary twist.
Create your own beautiful decorations that will reflect and sparkle on your tree.
The course fee includes a full kit of the equipment and materials you will use on the day.
Along with your fabulous decorations, take home new skills, tools and resources to continue creating.

When
Saturday, 10:00am - 4:00pm on 12th November 2022 for 1 day.
The closing date for enrolment on this course is Friday 28th October, to allow time for your materials to be prepared and ready for the course.
All materials are included in the cost of the course.

The full fee is £92.00.
What you already need to know
You do not need to have any previous knowledge just come along and enjoy the day.
What you will learn
- The processes of flattening and preparing straw marquetry.
- Creating your own straw marquetry designs.
- Applying straw to objects.
- The history and uses of straw marquetry.
- The process of growing, harvesting and preparing the straw.
How you will learn it
- Tutor demonstration, the tutor will model each stage.
- One-to-one support.
- Self-trial and improvement.
- The encouragement and direction to explore staw marquetry further with suggestions from books, artists and websites.
Bring to the first session
This is a short course, just bring yourself and perhaps your friend/s or family and enjoy.
An apron or clothing you don't mind getting messy in and glue on is recommended.
You will be given a 'kit' with the equipment and materials you need to use during the day and take home and enable you to continue at home.
There will be an opportunity to purchase additional materials or kits from the tutor on the day, should you wish to continue at home.
** Please bring a packed lunch as food is not provided at the venue.** Tea, coffee and biscuits are available for purchase during breaks.
Extra study or practice
This is a craft that can easily be continued and expanded at home.
