Course overview
ESOL courses are for people whose first language is not English. They are designed to help you improve your reading, writing, speaking and listening English skills for everyday life, for communicating with friends and for working in the UK. This is an entry 2 English course for those who can say a few words and speak in short sentences.
Where Uckfield Civic Centre, Civic Approach, Uckfield, East Sussex, TN22 1AE.
When
Monday, 10:00am - 12:15pm from 26th September 2022 until 6th February 2023 for 15 weeks.
There are no classes on the following Mondays:
24th October (Half Term), 12th, 19th & 26th Dec & 2nd January (Christmas break), 9th January 2023
This course is FREE to students on low income or receiving some kinds of benefits. Students who do not qualify for free courses can apply for a reduced fee. Please talk to us for more information.

During the course
To make good progress in English and particularly if you want to gain a qualification, you are expected to attend all classes unless you are ill or have an emergency.
Classes are for students only. No children, hosts or other family members may attend.
What you already need to know
No prior knowledge needed.
What you will learn
This course introduces basic skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening, including learning the alphabet and common diagraphs, reading single words, forming letters, spelling key words, correct pronunciation, speaking in single words and short phrases, and listening for key words and phrases.
This is Part One of Two 15-week courses. If you wish to gain a qualification you MUST attend BOTH courses.

You will learn in a small friendly class, practising your English with other ESOL students.

Step 1 GET IN CONTACT
Let ACRES know you are interested in an ESOL course by choosing one of the following:
Step 2 MEET THE TUTOR
- We will invite you to meet the tutor.
- This can be online or in person at ACRES House.
- Online meetings are via video link using Google Meet. You must have an email address for online meetings.
- The tutor will talk to you to get to know you a little and find out your English speaking starting point.
- You may have a friend or relative with you to help you understand.
- At the end of the meeting the tutor will advise you if this is the right course for you.
Step 3 COMPLETE YOUR ENROLMENT
Staff at ACRES House will help you to complete your enrolment. You will need to come in with your ID.
