Course overview
This fun and relaxed course will give you a comprehensive introduction to the French language. The primary aim will be to build your confidence in speaking French and you will learn basic vocabulary which will enable you to greet people, introduce yourself, and ask for food and drink at a cafe or shop.

When
Wednesday, 2:00pm - 4:00pm from 21st September 2022 until 30th November 2022 for 10 weeks.
No class 26th October (Half Term).
Cost
The full fee is £139.00.
The concessionary fee is £70.00.
What you already need to know
This is a course for beginners. No prior knowledge is required.
What you will learn
Topics will include :
- How to pronounce French words and sounds
- How to greet people, etiquette and cultural cues
- How to introduce yourself (and your family)
- Asking for food and drink
- Using to be / to have and a few simple verbs
By the end of the course, you will have more confidence interacting with locals when staying and travelling in a French-speaking country.
How you will learn it
- Tutor-led tuition for grammar points/vocabulary.
- Participating in role-playing on topics
- Practical application of knowledge
- Listening exercises
- Use of Padlet for further learning from home in between sessions
Bring to the first session
- Pen and paper or a notebook
- A folder or binder to keep hand-outs
- French dictionary (optional)
Extra study or practice
Practising between the sessions is optional but encouraged.
Julie will set some weekly homework.

The use of a dictionary is recommended, to support study in the sessions and at home. To avoid unnecessary cost please do not purchase any textbooks until you are certain that your course will run.
