Course overview
Hand-building ceramics, from design to a finished product. You will experiment with clay, techniques, decoration and glazes. Learn and explore the wonder and creativity that ceramics encompasses.

Monday, 6:30pm - 9:00pm from 26th September 2022 until 5th December 2022 for 10 weeks.
No class 24th October (Half-term)

The full fee is £233.00.
The concessionary fee is £147.00.
What you already need to know
No experience is required. All abilities are welcome.
What you will learn
Beginners - will initially focus on developing hand-building skills, methods and techniques. This knowledge will then be expanded by modelling and building a free-standing, figurative, or decorative utility piece. You will then have the opportunity to independently create devised pieces of work.
Those with more experience - You will plan and develop a project, with the guidance and advice of Clare.

How you will learn it
- Tutor demonstration and guidance
- Group and individual tuition
- Hands-on experimentation
- Exploration of the history and work of other artists
- Individual and group research and sharing of findings via the use of Padlet
Bring to the first session
- Pen or pencil and apron.
- A note/sketchbook to sketch your design ideas, and note what clays and glazes you use in your work for future reference.
- During the first session, you will be advised on a list of tools that you may like to use during the course. Most of these can be found at home.
Materials will be provided for small and medium-sized pieces of work.
Larger items can be produced, Kiln space depending. Additional materials can be purchased from the tutor, or the tutor can advise where to buy clay and equipment if you choose to create large works of art. Speak to your tutor if you are unsure.
Extra study or practice
Preparation and home research to develop your interest, designs and ideas ready for the course sessions.
Research of artists and pottery studios will expand your knowledge of the subject and may prompt areas for development in your 3D work.
