What you already need to know

Ideal for previous students of ACRES photography courses (all levels), or anyone that is familiar with using their camera in manual mode and would like to continue and improve their photographic journey.

A course for DSLR and mirrorless camera users.

What you will learn

The course will introduce two photographic themes, with examples of how other photographers have made creative images in response to similar themes. We will explore how different genres of photography could be applied to each theme.
Students will be encouraged to develop their own personal responses to the theme with full technical support being given throughout.

Each theme will reflect on core photographic skills giving you the opportunity to revisit and develop camera techniques previously learnt as well as develop some creative new skills.
Students will be supported in the production of a final portfolio in response to each theme which will be created digitally online!
Weekly challenges will also be set to enable you to keep your photographic hand-in and practise specific techniques while having some creative fun.

Learn how to develop your own photographic journey with bespoke tuition to enable you to achieve personal goals.

How you will learn it

The course is split into online and face to face sessions.
The online sessions will introduce you to the new theme and weekly challenges, with examples and discussion to inspire you to develop your own direction for the project. A secure online resource will also be used to enable students access to all teacher resources whenever they like, as well as upload their images for review and tutor feedback.
The face-to-face sessions will take a workshop approach with core skills being developed through a variety of fun and creative in-class challenges. Plenty of hands-on demonstrations, discussions and group work to help you develop a creative and technically solid approach to your photography.

Learning online
This is an online course or has online lessons, which will be taught in real-time using a video platform (usually Google Meet), supported by other online resources. You will therefore need to have access to either a laptop, computer or portable device (eg tablet or iPad) (this ideally needs to be less than 5 years old), with a camera / webcam and microphone, as well as a good broadband / Wi-Fi connection. Please note that using a mobile phone is not recommended as due to the small screen it can be difficult to see text and images displayed during the session and you may not be able to view or access some resources.
