Course overview
Throughout the history of art there have been far fewer women artists than their male counterparts and few, if any, are considered 'masters'.
But women have played an important and significant role in art for centuries, yet we may struggle to name a famous female artist, painter or sculptor.
During this four-week course, explore the contribution that women have made to art throughout our history. Investigate, learn and discuss significant women artists, their lives and works.

Thursday, 10:00am - 12:00pm from 4th May 2023 until 25th May 2023 for 4 weeks.
Cost
The full fee is £59.00.
The concessionary fee is £38.00.
During the course
You will gain:
- An overview and insight into the life, times and works of the chosen artists.
- The ability to recognise and identify different art styles, movements and techniques
- Active participation in discussions with other students
- Develop, express and rationalise your point of view

- Rachael Ruysch
- Berthe Morisot
- Mary Cassatt
- Frida Kahlo
- Georgia O'Keefe
- Barbara Hepworth and others
How you will learn it
A fun, informative class that uses a mix of presentations, discussion, handouts and audio-visuals to bring artwork to life. You will have plenty of opportunity to join in discussions, ask questions and interact with the tutor and other group members.

Notebook and pen.
Extra study or practice
Many of the pictures and artists that we will be looking at are on display in collections in London and you may wish to go and view them with fresh eyes once you have completed the course.
