Course overview
Be guided through methods and techniques to create different styles of cushions. then your tutor will guide you through making your own cushion cover, suitable for a 12" (30cm) cushion.
Where Sixth Form Centre, Heathfield Community College, Cade St. Old Heathfield, East Sussex, TN21 8RJ.
When
Saturday, 10:00am - 4:00pm on 14th May 2022 for 1 day.

The full fee is £60.00.
What you already need to know
Some previous knowledge of sewing and using your machine is helpful but not essential. However, enthusiasm is.
What you will learn
How to make a cushion cover with different finished styles:
- Piped - plain and decorative
- Fastenings buttons, zip
- Applique
- Patchwork
How you will learn it
You will first make some samples of the different techniques and you will then progress to making a completed cushion cover of your choice. Time permitting, you can make a second.
Bring to the first session
- Your sewing machine, its attachments and instruction manual (if you have one)
- A basic sewing kit.
- fabric to make 2 cushion covers, 2 x 15" (38cm) squares for each cushion.
- 12" (30 cm ) zip
- 60" (150cms) of matching piping if required for your cushion.
- 2 large buttons
- Scraps in various colours to make samples and applique your cushion if required.
All other materials will be provided by your tutor.
** Please bring a packed lunch with you.** Tea, coffee and biscuits are available for purchase during breaks.
To avoid unnecessary cost please do not purchase any materials or textbooks until you are certain that your course will run. Course decisions are normally made a week prior to the course start date.

No extra work is required.

Asymptomatic testing will no longer be required to attend classes. However, we strongly suggest if you do have symptoms of Covid-19, you do not attend your class and follow guidelines found on

We ask individuals to continue to respect the personal choices of their tutor and fellow students.
- ACRES will continue to supply hand sanitisers in all classrooms
- Students will still be able to work social distanced or on separate tables if this is their choice
- Sharing of equipment will continue to be kept to a minimum, and wipes/spray provided for cleaning being handling
- Tutors and students may or may not choose to wear face coverings
