Art Appreciation - Looking at Pictures (HE09N33C)
Course overview
Have you ever visited an art gallery or exhibition and wished you understood more about the works of art on display?
This course takes a close look at a selection of iconic paintings by some of Western Art's most famous painters. The course is designed for those who know a little bit about art, but want to find out more.
In addition to looking at a selection of famous paintings and their artists, you will gain an overview of art history and an understanding of the context in which the six masterpieces were created.
Using a single painting as a starting point, each week you will build up an overview of leading art movements and develop an understanding of different styles and techniques.
By the end of the course you will have developed enough knowledge and insight to make future trips to art galleries and exhibitions rewarding and enjoyable.
