We are able to offer a wide variety of courses this year suitable for the absolute beginner through to those with moreadvanced skills. From learning to shop online on the Internet to covering the basics of Web Design, from basic computing to gaining a computing qualification. All our computer course are very popular so book early to make sure you don’t miss out.

Saturday Courses

If you find attending weekdays difficult, why not enrol on our Weekend Workshops which run throughout selected weekends of the year. The computer courses offered will enable you to learn something new, a new software package or to shop via
the Internet to name a few.

Beginners Computing 1 is a course designed for students with little or no knowledge of computing. If you have never used a mouse before or switched on a computer, this is the course for you. You will learn basic word processing skills, how to surf the internet and use email. For those who prefer a slower pace or who are less confident try Beginners Computing 1Gently which is the same course run over 15 rather than 10 weeks.

A progression course or for those with basic computing skills, Beginners Computing 2, is where you can increase your skills and knowledge. Here you will learn word, the Internet and email in more detail, but also, depending on student’s requests, can look at other Microsoft software such as spreadsheets and/or PowerPoint. Again we offer a Beginners Computing 2 Gently which will run at a slower pace.

In our Beginners Computing Workshop you will learn how to use Word to input text, save, print and format simple documents. You will also explore the Internet, send and receive emails. Student will then have the option of extending their knowledge of what they have just learnt or look at the basics of other Microsoft Office software such as Excel Spreadsheets, or PowerPoint Presentations.

If you are a beginner or have some experience and want a qualification, our CLAiT (Computer Literacy and Information Technology) courses are for you. In response to student requests we offer the opportunity to learn Microsoft Word from a beginners level 1 (New CLAiT) through to advanced level 2 (CLAiT Plus). The same is offered with Spreadsheets and also in Web Design. For those students wanting to learn Excel and Databases or Microsoft Word and PowerPoint we offer accredited courses at Level 1.





Our Web Design Our Web Design courses offer two different options. One is to use the software Dreamweaver MX and the other to use free Website software. In the Dreamweaver MX course you will learn how to use HTML coding and to create a website using frames, an interactive form and email hyperlinks. The free software course is an excellent beginner’s path to developing a basic web site that is to be used for a club or small organisation.

Our new Mailmerge and Labels course is designed to help you save time. You only need to key in your letter once and then add the addresses. The computer will merge the two together ready for printing. You can then use those same addresses to make labels - no need to retype!

New this year is the Adobe Flash course which is a computer based animation programme that allows you to manipulate your digital photography and produce animated website design. Ideal if you are a small business and want to have a more professional looking web site or just want to develop another creative string to your bow.

Another exciting offering this year is our Project Management course designed to give a greater understanding of the processes involved in successful project management and provide a springboard onto further study and enable students to manage a variety of projects.



Our popular Sage Beginners and Sage Beginners 2 courses are offered again this year. If you need to computerise your books and have some bookkeeping knowledge then these are the courses for you. In the Sage Beginners course you will learn how to use the Nominal, Purchase and Sales Ledgers. For those with some knowledge or those having attended the Beginners course, Sage Beginners 2 will cover processing routine payments and receipts, salary journals, preparing a VAT report and much more.

Shopping on the Internet - a whole day course where you will learn how to book your travel, look at secure sites, pay pal and much more.

Shopping on the Internet Workshop - how to use the Internet as a tool to shop, from buying groceries through to the latest fashion, often at discount prices

Social Networking – this course will show you how to use Facebook, Bebo and other sites to keep in touch with friends and relatives. It will also look at business sites such as Linkedin.

An Introduction to Email and the Internet – for beginners to get to grips with creating and sending email and surfing the net.




Digital Photography





Our popular Digital Photography Courses, like our Computing Courses, include something for the beginner and for those that are more experienced. This year we have also incorporated the type of camera that would be used in the course title to make it easier for students to select their course.

Digital Compact/Hybrid Camera Workshop for beginners – This workshop will support you through using some of the many different functions on your Compact/Hybrid camera.

The Digital Compact/Hybrid Camera for beginners course is for those with little or no experience of photography. You will learn how to use some of the most common features of your camera and build your confidence at the same time. Our sister course Digital Compact/Hybrid Camera for beginners Gently is exactly the same course but delivered at a slower pace for students who need a little longer to develop knowledge and more time to practise.

An excellent progression course from Digital Compact/Hybrid Camera for beginners is the Digital Camera/Hybrid Camera advanced Gently course. This course takes the students a little further up the knowledge tree by explaining the more advanced features of their cameras and applying them to practical projects, which may be conducted both in the classroom and out on location.

SLR Digital Workshop - this workshop will support you through using some of the many different functions on your Digital
SLR camera.

SLR Digital Photography for beginners is a stage two course aimed at those students who own a Digital SLR camera but have little or no knowledge of how to get the best from it. The course aims to improve confidence and skill and to help the student understand how to make these complex modern cameras work for them.



SLR Digital Photography advanced is a course which provides a continuation into the subject for those students who own a quality DSLR camera but who are unsure how to get the best from it creatively. You will explore some of the advanced options and some of the creative possibilities offered by these cameras and build on existing photographic knowledge.


Getting to Grips with Photoshop Elements - For first time users of Elements this course will give learners an opportunity to explore the basics of Adobe Photoshop Elements and is aimed at individuals wishing to develop a basic understanding of the post production of photography and imaging.

Next Steps with Photoshop Elements For those who have completed the Getting to Grips with Photoshop Elements or those who have some knowledge this course looks at more advanced techniques of image manipulation from converting an image to greyscale to the more complex mastery of using layers and colouring.

Introduction to Photoshop Elements give students an opportunity to explore the basics of Adobe Photoshop Elements and is aimed at individuals wishing to develop a basic understanding of the post production of photography and imaging. It is aimed at students who wish to be able to successfully use a variety of tools and techniques to manipulate their images for personal use.

Photoshop Elements – the Next Step is a follow-on course in which you will build upon the knowledge you already have or have gained from the Introductory course. You will learn the more advanced techniques of image manipulation from converting an image to greyscale to the more complex mastery of using layers and colouring.
