Movement and Dance Gently for Beginners (C+) (UC08N24C)

Aimed at the over 55s, this is a gentle dance class incorporating stretching and strengthening movements to aid everyday life.

When? Tuesday, 09:15am - 10:15am from 15th January 2019 until 26th March 2019 for 10 weeks.

There are no classes on 19th February (Half term holiday).
Where? The course is held in Foresters Hall, Harcourt Road, Uckfield, East Sussex, TN22 5DT.
How much does it cost? The full fee is £59.00. The concessionary fee is £30.00. Please see our brochure or website for more information on the concessionary fee.

Course overview

You will obtain a theoretical and practical knowledge of a range of movements and dance styles that can contribute to your personal health and wellbeing. This is a continuation of the course that started in the Autumn Term. Please contact the ACRES office to enquire about spaces if you have not previously enrolled on this course.

What you already need to know

This is a course for beginners and you do not need any previous knowledge in dance.

What you will learn

A basic warm up and cool down.
Different elements of dance and stage craft.

Benefits to everyday life include:
Learning how to maintain and increase flexibility and strength through correct stretching and strengthening exercises.
Increased awareness of correct posture
Memory recall through learning a progressive dance routine over 10 weeks


How you will learn it

Through encouragement, support and having fun!
Come in and exercise your face muscles as well as the rest of your body! The classes are a chance to lose yourself in the music and also reminisce with your classmates.

There will be tutor demonstrations, class and individual tuition and precise and clear instructions. Video clips may also be used for inspiration.

What do I need to bring to the first session?

You will need a pair of good supportive shoes that cover the top of the foot with a sole that allows you to twist (not ballet pumps) and comfortable clothes that are not restrictive.
Bottle of water.

How much extra study or practice is involved?

Your tutor may suggest some exercises you can do at home if you wish to do so, but these will be optional.

Liza Reeves offers an intermediate level of this class for those who have gained experience in the beginners class. This class is held on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 to 11:45.
