General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

No doubt you will have been inundated recently with emails about the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and hearing from many organisations inviting you to reconfirm consent for them to continue to communicate with you. From an ACRES' perspective, our core business purpose revolves around communication and individual support in relation to your learning with us.

As such, our reasons for contacting you and for processing your data are based on 'legitimate interest' which means that there's a valid reason for us to be using your data and that we are using that data in ways that you would reasonably expect in the context of your learning. Therefore, from a GDPR perspective, we are not required to seek consent in order to process your data in line with our service offering but we have updated our Privacy Statement and practice to ensure continued compliance.

The personal information you provide is passed to the Education and Skills Funding Agency (an executive agency of the Department for Education, the data controller) and may be shared with third parties for purposes relating to education, training, employment and well-being, including for research, where the law allows it, and in compliance with data protection legislation. Your information will be securely destroyed after it is no longer required for these purposes.

You can agree to be contacted for other purposes.

Are you happy for ACRES to contact you with regards to:

- future learning opportunities or courses

- surveys and research

and if so would you like to be contacted by:

- post

- phone

- email

Our full Privacy Statement, which details how we use your personal data and how we keep it safe, has been updated and a copy of this can be found on our website within the Policies section. A paper copy can be provided on request by contacting the ACRES' office.
